frozen berries (4 large strawberries chopped, 1/2 cup blueberries)
1/2 banana
1/2 tbsp honey
Combine all ingredients together in a blender and set to chop until all frozen berries are macerated, then set to blend till smooth consistency is achieved. Serve in favorite glass, mason jar or mug and enjoy!

Homemade Taro Pearl Smoothie
Spring is here and don't we all love us some pearl shakes or smoothies? I always go to our local Vietnamese Sandwich shop that serves up some really good pearl drinks, Lee's Sandwiches. My fave is Taro! One day while getting some groceries at Seafood City (Filipino/Asian grocer), I was going down the aisle that had all the jarred sweets, beans, Nata preserves and ingredients for Halohalo and I realized that I could make a spin-off of Halohalo that is pretty much similar to the ever popular pearl drinks but use our very own Filipino ingredients!
Here's what I got:
2.5 - 3 heaping tsp of purple yam (taro) jam, Pamana brand
tapioca pearls (desired amount), Pamana brand
1/3 - 1/2 cup evaporated milk, Carnation
1 tsp sugar (or completely omit)
1.5 - 2 cups crushed ice
BLEND it like Beckham!!...pour into a tall or wide glass and ENJOY!
**Make sure to purchase the wider straws for pearl drinks, I laughed at myself when I realized I pulled out the wrong straw!
